Works Of the flesh and Fruits of the sprit (Galatians 5:19-22)

To inherit the kingdom of God , you need to be lead by the holy sprit . When you walk in the Sprit, you will not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
The works of the flesh are evident, which are
:* Adultery
:* Fornication
:* Uncleaness
:* lewbness
:* Idolary
:* Sorcery
:* Hatred
:* Contentions
:* Jealosy
:* Outburts of wrath
:* Selfish ambitions
:* Dissensions
:* Heresies
:* Envy
:* Murders
:* Drunkeness
:* Revelries
and like things

As we were discussing these things , i thought about it . Which of them do i show often.Jealosy and Outburts of wrath are the two things that i show out to people i think. For everything i get angry and shout at people . Need to remove it from my mind . Dont know how but will try hard to do it and about Jealosy i often get jealos when my close friends talk to others when i am eager to tell them something . I have to change these two things in me .
When the Works of the flesh are not in a person it means he is lead by the holy sprit and it is seen by the “Fruits of sprit”
:* Charity
:* Joy
:* Peace
:* Pateince
:* Understanding of others
:* Kindness
:* fidelity
:* Genetleness
:* Self Control

Hmmm yes they are the fruits of the sprit. I dont think i have even one of them. Should eliminate the works of flesh and show the fruits of the sprit to get the gifts of the kingdom .

    Awesome. This is so very true that in order to see anything happen within a believers life we must allow the Holy spirit to work in and through us. Jesus has made it clear we are no longer our own to do as we are pleased. We’ve been bought with a price his precious blood paid for it all. 1 John 3:8 states he that committeth sin is of the devil, for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. The enemy knows our flesh. So as you so clearly stated it’s a process that we have to go through by dieing daily to the sinful nature and taking on the Father’s will and attributes by allowing the Holy Spirit to do the inner work. THE CHURCH DOESN”T want to hear this but they need to because the enemy of our soul was defeated forever and all we have to do is follow the leading of the Holy Spirit. Jesus is COMMANDER AND CHIEF and he died for our sins we don’t have to revisit them. John 4:24 God is a spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. MARCH ON SPIRITUAL WARRIOR.

    I will praise the Lord at all times for He has done great things for me. Praise be to God from whom all blessings flow.

    The Lord Jesus is my rock and my salvation. In Him will I put my trust. Let me never be put to confusion.

    He is the way, the truth, and the life. No many commeth unto the Father, but by Him.

    Praise his holy name and bless Him in your coming in and in your going out.

    Great post… I often have thought about this verse in my own life. People often talk about the fruits of the spirit. And just looking at that list it is easy for us to deceive ourselves thinking we are getting a few right, but when you read BOTH lists together, it is a grim reminder of our depravity.

    It is not us who can change ourselves, but only the gift of God…
    No man can love perfectly without being shown perfect love

    When we see Christ’s perfect work on the cross, when God opens our eyes and allows us to believe his Son really was perfect and made himself the subject of ridicule, mockery, and suffering to the point of death to save us imperfect people…

    That enables us to WANT to love him…
    That enables us to do our DUTY (of loving him).

    We must see it both as our DUTY and DESIRE (want/emotion). The duty is on every being in creation, but the desire is absent until God grants it to us. Once that desire is granted, we MUST foster it, cherish it, and ensure that it continues to grow by reading things like this and being honest with where our heart is before him.

    I too struggle with anger, lust of the flesh, and jealousy in similar ways. Thank you for the edifying post. It encourages fellow believers to see others making an honest commitment to love God out of duty and desire.

    These prayers and scriptures are great for memory work to help us remember how we should behave for our Lord; hope you all find it useful as well:

    1) psalm 25:4-7

    2) Galatians 5:19-22 (added this after reading this post)

    3) The serenity prayer… no I am not in AA, but just as well should be because the “works of the flesh” are (to use today’s modern lingo) an addiction.

    4) Proverbs 3, 5-6

    This is the Serenity prayer (modified the ending):

    “God grant me the serenity
    to accept the things I cannot change;
    courage to change the things I can;
    and wisdom to know the difference.

    Living one day at a time;
    Enjoying one moment at a time;
    Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
    Taking, as He did, this sinful world
    as it is, not as I would have it;
    Trusting that He will make all things right
    if I surrender to His Will;

    [Being incidentally blessed by Him] with reasonable happiness in this life
    and with the supreme happiness of His fuller presence Forever in the next.

    Amen.”
    –Reinhold Niebuhr

    A website I visited had this verse accompanying the prayer (which is very fitting):

    “Trust in the LORD with all your heart
    and lean not on your own understanding;
    in all your ways acknowledge him,
    and he will direct your paths.”

    Proverbs 3, 5-6

    The Galatians scripture verse mentioned earlier:

    4Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.

    5Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

    6Remember, O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.

    7Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O LORD.
