Sourav was the man behind the Indian crickets achievements

for the past six to eight years.
He had thought the team about the concept of the “TEAM”.

He is a great batsman and a bowler (History does speaks). It is he who brought many players from all around India.

It is only after Ganguly became the captain of Indian team people felt “yes, if we play well we will be selected”.

It is only after Ganguly became the captain of Indian team, people trusted India to win. And India did win many

historic matches.
I like the aggressiveness in him; he backs up all his teammates. The bad thing of being a captain is,

When u win they say it’s because of the bowlers and the batsman but when you lose it is because of the captain.

He has scored in aggregate more than 15000 international runs in both form of the game, nor can we disagree

with the comment that Rahul once made about him: “In the offside first there is GOD, then there is GANGULY”.

But apart from his exploits with the bat, he will be remembered more as a leader, who took over in an era

of utter disbelieve among the people of this country towards their cricket team generated for the match fixing

scandal and also for some miserable performances on the field; and slowly molded them into a respectable unit

worldwide, which could even challenge the mighty Australians in their own territory.

He was the First Indian captain

to break away from the shackles of regional politics and had the guts to fight with the selectors for the

young talented players, no matter from which part of the country they belong to. Almost all of Team India’s stars,

e.g. Dhoni, Pathan, Sehwag, Harbhajan, kaif, Yuvraj are his discoveries. He supported every player in his bad patches,

but he himself was left to fight his lone battle at the end. He took the challenge whole-heartedly and tried his level best.

I like the way he gave it back to Andrew Flintoff in England by spinning his shirt in the air. One can see the “now your turn man”

attitude in his eyes on that day. Once some one had set up a good team whoever becomes the captain, the team can win

Bringing him back to the team has lifted the team spirit so much that it started winning again.
