Google Code Search:
December 20, 2006
I have many times searched for coding in the internet, often
people told me that there is search engine for searching codes.
I never knew about google code search then, until i came across
“Fast Track To Google” book .So now i know how to search for codes in the net,
Check it out for yourself
Google Code Search
![]()
Goole’s regular Googlebot crawler is being used to crawl
through archives(.tar,.zip,etc) and individual repositiories like CVS
and index all the files within.
Google has also released the API for code search which utilises Google’s GDATA API
format http://code.google.com/apis/gdata/index.html
One thing to be noticed here is the set of syntax instructions to be followed and the examples given under them..
You can search as
“hello,\world”(RE)
“hello string”(String)
package:regexp
lang:regexp
“lang:c++hello world”
licence:regexp
“licence:bsd hello world”
It also wars people about the vulnerabilities in a program
If any particular posting is notified and
proved to be fraud they are immediately removed
what began as a servicefor google programmers to search through internal company code is now availablwe for the global audience.Itassures the new age programmers
a fresh boost to open source .
